About Me
My name is Matthew Walter. I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska. I am the middle child of 2 other brothers, Andrew (21) on the left, and Luke (11) in the middle. I began my college career in Nursing, hoping to be a pediatric nurse. I realized it was not the path for me when I decided that I could make a better connection with kids as a teacher. In my free time I like to read comics, play games, and talk about life with my brothers, all of which help me connect with my students. I am currently working toward a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Mary.
Since graduating high school, I have worked at my old elementary school for three years in the after school care program and in the daycare/summer camp program. However, my first real experience in teaching came from helping and watching my younger brother grow. I feel that I have been given the unique gift of having both an older and younger brother; first my older brother taught me; next I was able to teach my younger brother. This has greatly inspired me to teach and form meaningful relationships with others. It has also allowed me to put into practice all I have learned about classroom management before I enter my own classroom.
